Today during our PLC we worked in the conference room on our grade level RTI triangle. We added current SRI lexile scores and rearranged students based on data/ability. We were concerned that we moved so many students up in the triangle and are wondering why this is? Loss of comprehension and strageties over the summer? Not putting forth effort? I plan to use this information to help me target my instruction for all students, especially those who moved up to Tier 2 and 3.
At our PLC with Lisa Harde a few weeks ago, we talked about having volunteers work with Tier 2 students who are struggling, but do not qualify for her reading group during Enrichment time. I have two students, Hannah and Nick, that will certainly benefit from the extra reading comprehension and fluency practice. I will have them read the upcoming Social Studies material to help gain understanding and reinforce that material, since the reading material is quite tricky for them.
